With Need For Speed: Shift for the Xbox 360 and PS3, I guess EA felt obligated to throw Wii owners a bone, even if it is a half eaten one. X-Play gave the game a 3 out of 5, average. It's basically a "cartoony" version of NFS and plays more like the older games in the series, win races, get money, upgrade your ride, repeat. Nothing necessarily wrong with that as it's proven to be fun time and time again, but it can be a little monotonous. X-Play reports that the A.I. isn't all there (if you know what I mean) and the challenges are pretty tough. There are a few perks though, the customization is better than ever thanks to the WiiMote; you can practically "draw" on your vehicle to make for some pretty sweet vinyl work. Four-player split-screen is in the game, but no online; in this stage of gaming, any multiplayer game is expected to and should have online gameplay. It's pretty obvious that NFS: Nitro is a consolation given to the Wii since EA couldn't (or didn't want to) port NFS: Shift to the Wii due to the Wii's limited hardware, but I'd rather have just not had this, it's almost as if they're taunting us. I have not played it, so I won't pass judgement yet, but I think I already know what to expect with this.
