There will be a November contest for $50 Amazon Gift Certificate, Paypal $50 or similar. Rules to be re-posted when I dig that post out of the DB dump.
Drawing will be Saturday Dec 5th at noon Pacific time.

Dave
I used to have 333 posts before some posts got lost. I also hd clamed on ticket and one carrying over. Making my total 2.

Does that still count? Or, are we starting all over again?
I would like to claim 2 tickets and bring back my 3 from the other contest
I'm starting a new contest for November - prize will be a $50 Amazon gift card or $50 via paypal - winner's choice.

This will run on similar rules to the previous contest except that you earn 1 ticket for 30 posts or 3 referrals. Posts go by your post count passing multiples of 30. I am sorry but we cannot count the lost posts during the hosting switch since I need to keep track and it's too complicated. Also I don't have a list of the tickets in the previous contest and the carry forward idea seemed to cause a lot of confusion, and again requires me to keep track so there will be no carry forward. Just 1 ticket for 30 posts or 3 referrals. Newbies get a break - they will get one ticket for their first 10 posts, and one for the next 20, so at 30 posts they will have 2 tickets, then they will earn one for the next 30 like everyone else.

Drawing will be on random.org at noon PST on the first Saturday in December, Dec 5th, 2009.

It's up to you to claim tickets by posting in this thread when you pass a 30-post level or have 3 referrals. When you claim a ticket, you must say what you are claiming the ticket for - e.g. "330 posts - claiming 1 ticket."
I will post updated ticket totals each weekend. Right now, everyone has zero.

And I can award tickets to individuals for helping out or posting larger posts, e.g. game reviews.

Other rules:

The posts cannot be spam. If you spam you will be banned and you will never be able to win the contest.

You will receive 1 ticket for every 3 referrals you get to WiiBoost. The referrals need to be from now on. Any referrals that have been obtained November 1st or later will count. For more info on how to get referrals or to check how many you have visit here. (A referral is a friend you get to sign up)

I will be giving away tickets to people who are active and helpful on the forum!

Prize will be in US$ - you are responsible for any fees for conversion to your local currency. If you do not have a paypal account and Amazon does not offer gift cards in your country, we can make alternate arrangements to transfer the money or provide a prize of equal value, to be agreed.

I will not contact the winner, they must be active on the forum and claim the prize within 5 days.

Hope this is clear - Good Luck!

Dave

Update: one new rule just to be clear - admins and owners are not eligible for the contest, but moderators and super-moderators are.
Moderators and Super Moderators hereby get 1 ticket for the November contest.
So idkcar and ChaosPunk each have 1 ticket.
I likely will be awarding you folks another ticket at the end of the month...

Dave
yay, I gots a ticket! Anyway, I posted a thread about Need for speed nitro, so is that like worth a thicket?
Yes - this is exactly the kind of post I am looking for although a teeny bit on the short side Tongue So 1 ticket to you, total 2.
For everyone else let me point out that that review is written in ChaosPunk's own words, and NOT copy/pasted from somewhere else. Embedding images and videos is a great idea. The Nitro image is hosted at tinypic.com and video is just youtube's embed code right? I am trying to figure out how to get Amazon iframe referral links working in posts - I have enabled iframes using the [iframe] syntax, but Amazon links have extra iframe parameters that can't be included the way it works now. I would like to be able to add an Amazon iframe link to the bottom of that post that shows the current price etc...

Dave
So for you giving me that one ticket, one brought over from the other contest makes my total 2 right?
No - I changed my mind on the carry over - see my post above, since a) I don't have a list of the tickets from the previous contest and b) it's too hard to keep track of. Given the hosting issues that have been sucking up my time, I needed to simplify things and that was one easy way. Sorry if you are disappointed, but it's now a level playing field for all. Ways to earn tickets are 30 posts, or 3 referrals, or one substantive post, e.g. game review etc. plus you mods get bonus ticket(s).

I'm not sure where the image is hosted, but yes, the video is embedded from youtube. And I know it was a little short, but I really couldn't think of anything else to say about the game not having played it yet. Truthfully, I don't know about the iframe stuff, but it looks to me like you got it working with eBay.
